"We found Matt to be approachable, professional and fitted in well with our requirements.  He welcomed our presence at the survey and explained in detail his findings.  The report was prompt and allowed us to make a firm decision.  In this case against the boat, but we would recommend him and use his services again."  Matt carried out a pre purchase survey on my Fisher 25 yacht. The survey was thorough and Matt was very approachable and friendly. I had several questions after the survey and he was helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Even some time afterwards, he was helpful and readily gave his time answering further questions that arose. So very good after sales support.

I was not present at the survey so I found it a nice touch that Matt offered to retouch the hull moisture test patches. The current owner was present, however, and was obviously impressed with the level of inspection undertaken, as he commented that he intended to use Marine Surveys for the survey of his next boat purchase. The survey was undertaken within a few days of my request and a comprehensive report received in about 48 hours. I found the classification of findings into 'recommendations' and 'need to do' very useful. Overall, very satisfied

When assessing my first boat, a Sadler 29, I urgently needed a survey before winter set in and held up the purchase.
I sent out numerous emails to Marine Surveyors and Matthew West of Marine Surveys UK was the first to respond with a quotation which was inclusive of both travelling expenses and VAT. They were also able to commence work promptly.
Having seen previous copies of surveys of other boats for sale, I was surprised to receive a very comprehensive, concise and illustrated (with 30 photographs) 20 page report detailing the current condition of the boat with recommendation of repairs that needed to be undertaken in order of priority.
I was extremely pleased with the thoroughness of the survey and the cost. Matt's quotation turned out to be very competitive. Consequently, I have no hesitation in recommending Marine Surveys UK to anyone requiring a comprehensive survey at a sensible price, in fact, I recommended him to the previous owner of my boat, who has since engaged Matt to survey his newest acquisition.

I was in the final stages of fulfilling a long held dream of buying a luxury houseboat to live on in London full time. There were issues around the sale that made me feel uneasy and I felt my inexperience was being exploited. I also had serious concerns over the viability of the steel lighter hull and the fact that the boat was in a very awkward mooring and couldn't be moved to dry dock for ultrasonic testing. Matt gave me a great deal of unconditional advice and towards the end became quite the 'agony aunt'. He went out of his way to research specific information and was consistently pleasant and professional. Matt helped me make the painful decision to walk away from the sale despite the fact I loved the boat. I wouldn't hesitate to use Marine Surveys again or recommend them to anyone. I was so impressed that I paid Matt for his time although he didn't expect me to.

"Pragmatic Surveys in plain English" is an excellent tag line. After the boatyard had told me my boat had osmosis Marine Surveys had a look and clearly explained what the bubbles were and gave excellent and pragmatic advice on what to do (wasn't osmosis!). I will happily use them again.

The survey of my new boat was thorough and I was impressed with the attention to detail and the overall helpfulness of both it and the way Matt dealt with the few queries that did arise from it.

I was recommended by a third party for a yacht survey by Marine Surveys. I was buying a boat a long way from my home and had to trust the surveyor totally. I was very impressed by the level of service, the quality of service and the contact I had with Matt before, during and after the service. The boat has lived up to it's survey and I would thoroughly recommend Marine Surveys.

We spent a long time selecting a surveyor to survey a yacht that we were thinking of purchasing. Matt from Marine Surveys UK was fantastic. He answered numerous e-mail and telephone enquiries before he carried out our survey. On the day of the survey he obtained important information about the yacht from the boat yard owners where she was stored. The survey was sent by e-mail and hard copy and was easy to understand. Matt then went the extra mile and arranged to meet us at the yacht to go over each point on the survey. Not only did he arrange a meeting but he recommended a hotel for us to stay in as we live four hours away from the yacht we were buying. All in all a fantastic experience with a very comprehensive survey and aftercare service. If you are thinking of a boat survey don't look any further.

The prepurchase survey of my yacht was done at the earliest opportunity. I was on site and the surveyor kindly included me in to his thoughts as the survey progressed. This importantly gave me an insight into the boats structure and systems. The initial findings were communicated to me verbally, then in an email the next day after further research by the surveyor. The written report arrived in good time a few days later. The recommendations advised were rectified under the further supervision of the surveyor up to the time of the yachts removal from the boatyard and before completion. The advice received was always very considerate and, as the survey itself, communicated in straightforward jargon free language.

Buying our first yacht was a very big commitment and Matthew West from Marine Services was an enormous help to us. Because of the urgency of our survey, he dropped everything for us at short notice, was very thorough, not at all rushed, in fact he explained every little detail to us and showed us practical tips on how to do work on the hull and general tips. We were very pleasantly surprised at how friendly and helpful he was and made our purchase that much more enjoyable. We would definitely recommend him (in fact we have already) to others! When the time comes to buy our next yacht, we will be calling upon him again. Many thanks, Della and Sean Phillips

Marine Surveys UK provided a pre-purchase survey on a Cornish Crabber 24 for me. This my second major boat purchase so I knew what to expect. However in this instance I was most impressed with the quality and the detail provided, including many photographs to show or highlight the items being reviewed. A verbal report by telephone was provided in a comprehensive manner and their claim to use plain English was justified. The survey was also expedited very promptly allowing me to complete the purchase very quickly. I would happily recommend them.
